![]() Save this layout as "Slip" or whatever you would like to call it. (So, select the ProTools layout from the drop down menu, then select "Custom.") Start by making a shortcut for the "Keyboard Shortcuts" screen that we're now working in, since the PT layout doesn't have one. Start by going to "Edit -> Keyboard Shortcuts" and making a custom shortcut layout based on the ProTools one. Update: So based on this, you can use custom keyboard shortcut layouts to create separate "Slip" and "Shuffle" modes. But some of the low hanging fruit that can make the DVR Studio truly great is still sitting and waiting for someone to pick it up and run with it.Not sure when this was added, but in build 13.0.2.35 there is an entire Ripple Delete subsection in the Edit menu. ![]() I hope this history and request is helpful. Even in keyboard customization there are major limitations to the menu options in Fairlight that would make it a fantastic standalone DAW. Please apply the same workflow efficiencies to the Fairlight page. With the introduction of the new Speed Editor, it's clear that BMD understands how valuable time-saving is when creating modern media. This seems like a pretty obvious feature that would make Fairlight a solid standalone DAW. Well, it would be a great feature to simply empower all of the same keyboard shortcuts in Fairlight that make editing swift and efficient in the Edit and/Cut pages. I tried to go to the fairlight page and do my editing and that basic essential shortcut to select the next clip doesn't work on the Fairlight page. You can't use the shortcuts to edit audio by locking all of the video tracks. As I try to use the keyboard shortcuts on the edit page to select the next clip [Shift+v} it selects the text clip on the video track that is locked. But now I am editing the VO audition and I locked the video track with the text on it. This would be useful for ADR work as well. I just decided to add my commercial copy as a Text in the timeline so I don't have to use 2 screens and have a word processor up on one screen with my text. ![]() Patching audio inputs wasn't as stable but it has improved in the recent updates I see. Also the Compressor, and other effects were good enough. The main reason being the keyboard shortcuts for editing on the VIdeo Edit page are just as efficient for cutting, trimming, slipping, and editing. It seemed like overkill.Įventually I tested Fairlight as a last resort once it was integrated into DVR Studio. I didn't want to purchase Pro Tools just for this VO work. I've also done ADR for indie films in my home studio. I am a professional actor and often send in auditions and I have some clients that I record final products for in my home studio. Final Cut, Adobe Audition, Premiere, Garage Band etc. Until I finally switched to Davinci despite trying a lot of other tools. Even resorting to an old OS on a laptop that I wouldn't update. This is a big deal for me because I literally grandfathered Soundtrack Pro as my VO tool all the way up until it simply wouldn't work anymore as the OSX was updated. I have been using Fairlight as a Voice Over creation and editing tool for a few years now. I'm going to give the reasons for my request so you understand the value of it and that may help prioritize it in the updates.
